Phil Hellmuth and r_a_y collect over $500,000 at LA Poker Classic

The final table at the LA Poker Classic was painted in black and gold with UB players Phil Hellmuth and r_a_y occupying two of the six final table seats.

While it's no shock that an 11-time World Series of Poker® bracelet winner would find his way to the final table of a major WPT event, all eyes were on r_a_y, an online poker player who qualified for his WPT LA Poker Classic seat through UltimateBet.

But it wasn't just a stroke of luck that helped the online poker player secure his seat in the LA tourney. R_a_y also won Round 6 of UltimateBet's Heads-Up Smackdown, a March Madness-style bracket competition currently heading into Round 8. What's more, r_a_y also made a couple of final tables in UBOC, UltimateBet's online championship series.

While neither player was crowned champion at the Commerce Casino, both UB players walked away with inspiring finishes. Phil left the tourney in 6th place, collecting $229,480. R_a_y walks away from LA $296,860 richer after his impressive 5th place win.
