You Know the Name

I don't mean to brag, but a few days ago I took 4th place in a poker tournamnent for my biggest cash ever. Well, let me brag a little bit--I played EXTREMELY well, making some sick calls, ferocious re-raises, and telepathic reads. It also didn't hurt that the three times I had aces or kings I doubled up. And I had a really brutal suckout on my way to the final table. But let's not diminish my phenomenal achievement. Please. My ego needs this.
When I reached that final table I found myself shivering from head to toe, thanks to the clammy, all-over sweat I broke out in. I suppose you get used to the pressure when you make a few final tables. And I'll get used to it too, as I prove my tournament mettle again and again in the future. Well, let's hope there is an "again".
But I do wonder about how the folks who keep making deep runs in our Sunday $200,000 Guaranteed Tournament. Are they sitting there as calm as the Buddha, betting and folding with beatific calm....or are they like me, chewing on a rubber cat toy as their belly feels like it's full of eels? Probably more of the former than the latter.
So, let this be my way of reminding you that our $200,000 Guaranteed Tournament is at 5pm ET, and that you should strive for a serene disposition as you hack your way through tonight's massive field. And try not to break out in a cold sweat once you reach the money. Like me.
