Why Buy When You Can...Win?

It's about time I start thinking about buying a new car, what with my current ride closing in on 110,000 miles and it's sudden reluctance to start when the temperature falls below 50 degrees. As I live in Pittsburgh that's a problem.

Fortunately two of my friends recently bought new cars and I recently had the chance to check them out. Un-fortunately, they aren't cars I'm likely to include on my shopping list. My one friend just got a BMW 535i, which is such an elegant, sophisticated sedan that I felt like I should put on a coat and tie before I got behind the wheel. The car comes with an onboard GPS system and satellite radio and a climate control system so advanced that the driver can enjoy sub-Arctic conditions while his passenger basks in Saharan heat. Driving that car did wonders for my self-esteem...while I was driving it. When I stepped out and she drove away, and I looked at my forlorn Cavalier with the bird poop on the hood, I couldn't help but sigh.

I didn't sigh when my other buddy drove up in his BMW 335i convertible. "Yeahhh," I said as I eased into the buttery leather of the passenger seat and toggled the controls until I was nearly prone. The car had even more supercool gizmos--it's Bluetooth-enabled, so he plugs his phone into a port and makes phone calls through the car. "Call Gene," he said, and five seconds later my cell phone was buzzing.

After making a brief stop we returned and he had to show me another neato feature. See, you don't use a key to unlock the door. Only the proles still use a key to get into their cars these days! No, with the 335i you keep the key in your pocket, and when you touch the door handle the car senses that you have the key and pops the locks. You lock it the same way, by touching the top of the handle. Oh, and you know how you start your car (unless it's under 50 degrees) by sticking a key in the ignition and turning it on? Yeah, those days are coming to an end. This car knows that you have the key, of course, so all you do is press a "Start/Stop Engine" button on the dash. Press that button and you hear an engine that purrs like a lion who just ate an especially tasty gazelle.

My friend's car is a convertible and so I naturally made him take the top down, pathetically hoping that someone I know might recognize me as we drove by. He pressed a single button and that started the show. All the windows slid down; the roof hissed and leaned forward a few inches. The trunk opened and the roof kipped up and eased back into a perfectly-positioned slot. The trunk snapped shut with a satisfying "thunk". It took about six seconds. I actually applauded when it was done.

Now, you may be asking why I just spent so much time raving about the latest offerings of the Bavarian Motor Works. Well, the thing is, I kinda want one. And after reading my ravings about driving around in these two fabulous vehicles, you probably want one too.

And instead of ponying up a big number to buy won...why not try to WIN one here at UltimateBet? Because UB is offering our players a chance to freeroll their way to a BMW M5, a car of such overwhelming awesomeness and gorgeousness that it would make my friends' new cars feel inadequate.

The freeroll will be held on Saturday, September 1st at 4pm EDT. And how do you qualify for the freeroll? Well, you have to meet one of the following conditions:
  • Seats are awarded to the Daily Top 50 UltimatePoints earners
  • Seats are awarded to the Top Daily BlackJack player
  • Seats are awarded to players that participate in the Sunday $200k and/or Aruba 50 Seat Guarantee in four out of the five Sundays leading up to the freeroll on September 1st
The winner of the freeroll gets a 12-month lease on a BMW M5. I just like the way that sounds, "a BMW M5". Other prizes will be awarded to those who finish in the top ten...but if there was ever a tournament where all you cared about was WINNING, this would be the one.

Now if you'll excuse me I have to go wash the bird droppings off my car and pray that the doggone thing starts. Anyone know how good BMW's theft-prevention systems are?
