Wheels Within Wheels

Watching the fourth episode of The Best Damn Poker Show the other night I found myself wondering who's foolin' who. Phil and Annie selected their teams and they've spent the last two episodes watching their players spar with each other, hoping to catch their captain's eye and be chosen for the final table.

Phil gave his team instructions on how best to play. So did Annie...but she told her charges to play in a way designed to trick Phil into misreading their style. She had several private chats with her players that appeared to be stern lectures about improving their play...but these talks were merely part of the subterfuge. Though for the life of me I couldn't figure out if Annie and Hollywood Dave Stann were actually having an argument or not. Some pretty good acting there.

It looks like Phil has swallowed whole everything Annie has so carefully fed him. I wonder if the coaches are allowed to talk to their players once the final table begins, because if not, Phil's players will be playing against figments of Annie Duke's imagination. Gary "debo34" DeBernardi will become an aggressive maniac, Tracy Scala will batten down the hatches and play tight. And their opponents will be sitting there with Phil's instructions ringing in their ears. Dare they deviate from the plan?

Looks like this is what's gonna happen...unless Phil and Mark "P0ker H0" Kroon figure Annie's game out before the final table is seated. If they don't, and they find out that they've been tricked...well, Phil's reaction should be very, very interesting. Hope that "bleep" button is up to the challenge.
