It's a good thing that you can play online poker in bed because I can't seem to shake this whole stomach thing I have. So the UBOC has been an awfully nice diversion to the whole sick thing. I played my first one on Saturday and bombed out pretty fast. Then Sunday there was a $200 and $500 buy-in at 2pm PST and 5 pm respectively. The thing about Sunday was that I had promised my kids we would decorate the tree that day.
So, I sent Joe out in the morning with them to get the tree while I decorated the house. I assumed he was going to come back with a 7 ft tree or so. When he got back he said, "Man, trees are expensive." I knew that and assume it had cost $100 bucks or so which is what the size tree we normally get costs. Then he said, "I spent $300 bucks on the tree." At that point it dawned on me that he may have gotten a bigger tree than I was expecting. And when I went outside to help him bring it in, boy, was I right about that. It was almost 11ft tall! Good thing we have high ceilings. Bad thing we don't have a ladder high enough to reach the top to put the lights up there or the tree topper.
So, my nanny had to call her husband who is 6'5'' to come over to put the lights at the top of the tree since we only have a step ladder. In the meantime I had to go down to my bedroom to start playing the 2pm event. That was very hard for me because I am a control freak and allowing someone else to put the lights on the tree was tough for me since I am very particular about it. But TC did a really good job, I must say, and giving up a little control was a good exercise for me.
The real problem, though, was that I need to go play this poker tournament since there is a bounty on my head in all the tournaments I play where when someone knocks me out they get a phone lesson from me. So I entered the event intending to get knocked out quickly. Now, I always play within reason but when I have somewhere to go I will definitely play more recklessly, take more chances. Of course, I ended up cashing in the event and it even ran over into the 5pm event, which I also cashed in! Murphy's law!
We did manage to get the tree decorated but it was late in the evening when we got to it. I must say it came out beautifully and the kids are so happy with their humongous tree. I am going to be playing UBOC events every day until it is over and each time I will have this bounty on my head so look for me at your table. And I will probably have something to do everyday too since they are always right around the time I have to make dinner for my kids. Man 4 kids really put a cramp in your poker style ha ha. So if you are at my table, expect some gamble from me. Go big or go home (or go cook dinner for your children). That is my new motto!
