The Lull Between The Storms

The week between Christmas and New Year's is something of a holiday netherworld. You've just survived all that shopping and eating and exhausting merriment, and waiting in the very near future is a night of hedonistic mayhem. If you're lucky.

But the days in between provide a little breathing space. Lots of people take this week off from work, but even if you didn't the going is a bit easier this week, isn't it? There's not as much traffic. The phones aren't ringing off the hook. The attitude around the office is pretty mellow. Everyone's a bit tired. And everyone wants to conserve energy so they can go-go-go on New Year's Eve.

The next few days provide the perfect opportunity to indulge in a little me-time, to grab some peace and quiet and recharge the batteries. But you don't have to spend the next five days crashed on the couch because you pigged out on leftovers. There are some profitable ways to spend the next few days here at UltimateBet, and they won't require you to wade through crowds at the mall or engage in binge drinking.

Tonight is your last chance to qualify at UB for a seat in the Aussie Millions tournament in Melbourne. Tonight's satellite begins at 9:30pm ET, and if tonight's your night you could translate your $300+20 buy-in into an $18,000 prize package that includes your $10K tournament buy-in as well as $8,000 for travel and accomodations. The Aussie Millions runs from January 14th-19th, and don't forget that right now it's summer Down Under. Not that there's really a bad time to visit Australia.

UB is still offering Bounty Tournaments several times a night, where you receive a cash bonus for every player you knock out. These poker tournaments come with buy-ins ranging from $6+.50 to $60+5, so it's an affordable way to sharpen your fangs and work on your aggression.

And on New Year's Eve there will be another tournament where five members of Team UltimateBet will have a bounty on their heads. Just as on the Christmas Eve tourney, if you knock one of our pros out you'll get your full buy-in back. This $200+15 tournament starts at 5pm ET, so that should give you plenty of time to close out 2006 with a nice score and still have time to join the revels.
