Last night was the last Sunday Guaranteed Tournament before the UltimateBet Online Championship begins, and it looks like some of the best online players in the world are rounding into form at just the right time. One name at last night's final table leapt out--Brock "Maria Nuccia" Parker, who's reputation as one of the best online tournament players in the world was built in part by his victory in last year's UBOC Main Event.

It turns out Maria Nuccia wasn't the only name that struck a cord with me. Last night's winner, the unappetizingly-named "soggyvag"...why did his name sound so familar? Ah yes, that's right, he won the Sunday Guaranteed tournament back on July 15th. Taking down UltimateBet's biggest event twice in five months means he's one to watch as the UBOC closes in.

According to CardPlayer the final table was chock-full of top online players, including Adanthar, another familiar name that I couldn't quite place...until I recalled that he's a prolific poster over at the 2+2 message boards. Seems like everything's connected in the poker world.

And just missing the final table was another of the most famous names in online poker--Cliff "JohnnyBax" Josephy, who was the runner-up in the 2006 Aruba Poker Classic and finished 12th last night. The UBOC is just a few days away and the best players around are throwing darts at the top spots. Starting on December 7th, there's gonna be some serious poker going on.
