The Countdown Begins

We're less than a week away from the start of the 2008 World Series of Poker. It may seem hard to believe, but on May 30th the Amazon Room at the Rio will again be the stage as pros and amateurs alike strive for poker immortality. The first event this year will be the $10,000 Pot-Limit Hold-Em event, the first of ten "World Championship" events that cover just about every poker game under the sun--including the WSOP Main Event and the $50K H.O.R.S.E tournament.
I'll be there for the duration, posting (at least) daily updates and hopefully lots of outstanding pictures of the spectacle. This is my second go-round covering the WSOP and I'm anxious to check out the improvements Harrah's (or is it Caesar's now?) has made from last year. No poker tent--huge improvement. Separate rooms in the Rio for satellites and the cage--huge improvements. Improved registration, no alternates, shortened hours of play, more room between the tables. Even the food is supposed to be a lot better. I may be so inspired that I may even play in an event. Early on I targeted the $50K H.O.R.S.E., but I may settle for a $1,500 No-Limit event. More my speed.
