The $200,000 Sunday Guarantee

Last night 897 players battled it out on the virtual felt in UltimateBet's $200,000 Guaranteed event. The ten players who made the final table didn't get to see Martin Scorcese's big night at the Oscars, but the $45,000 first prize was probably enough to hold their attention.

We arrived at the final table with classyploppy as the chip leader, and after a few quick knockouts reduced the field to six he started playing some big-stack poker and bullying the other players with big re-raises. The table consolidated down to four, and then three when zestfulyclean, who had been in 2nd chip position most of the way, but after getting his stack thinned out he pushed with A-10 and was called by tutnik11's pocket queens. The ladies held up and zestfulyclean (love that name) won $13,000 for his fourth place finish.
No chip lead is ever truly safe, and even though classypoppy had over a million chips at one point tutnik11 and ml7651 hacked away at his stack until they'd reduced classypoppy to third place. But he might've put himself back in position to win the poker tournament when he got all his chips in with A-K against tutnik11's A-9. But tutnik11 flopped a nine to wriggle off the hook and sent classypoppy home in 3rd place with $18,500.
Heads-up play started with tutnik11 holding twice as many chips as ml7651, and tutnik11 seized control from the start and quickly vaporized most of his opponents stack. Nearly down to the felt ml7651 pushed with K-6, and was called (and dominated by) tutnik11's KQ of hearts. The flop gave tutnik11 as flush draw, the turn gave ml7651 a gutshot straight draw, and the three of hearts on the river gave ml7651 his straight and tutnik11 his straight--and the tournament. Tutnik11 took home the $45,000 first prize and runner-up ml7651 won $27,000.
