So THAT'S Who She Is!

I've mentioned before that I'm a big fan of High Stakes Poker, but something about the show has troubled me lately. Well, not the show itself--it's the promos GSN runs for a few of their other offerings. Time and time again I've seen ads for Lingo and PlayMania and seen a very pretty, very perky blonde who co-hosts both programs. And I've had the feeling that I've seen her somewhere before.

And I don't mean that I've seen her on another network or another show or in some fever dream. I felt like I'd SEEN her, in person. And this troubled me, because, um, I think I would've remembered the circumstances.

But I couldn't remember, and as the weeks went by and I'd watch new episodes of High Stakes Poker and see the same promos I couldn't shake that doggone feeling. And it really started to BUG me, y'know? So, last night I decided to investigate and get myself some answers. To Wikipedia!

A quick search of the show Lingo informed me that the lady in question is Shandi Finnessey, who was named Miss USA back in 2004. This didn't help me, as I didn't attend the Miss USA pageant in 2004  (at least not that I remember). I read through the rest of her bio, looking for clues...and then, a-ha!

From her profile on Wikipedia, "Finnessey is a sideline reporter for the CBS tournament blackjack series Ultimate Blackjack Tour."

A-HA! So I'm NOT crazy! Because I was there during the filming of the Ultimate Blackjack Tour in Aruba, and I remembered Ms. Finnessey interviewing Aaron Tribble, who won the first final table of the UBT. In fact, I took a picture...

I think the reason this little episode didn't stick in my mind was that it was about 135 degrees on the concrete pool deck where I was standing. And I'm sure it wasn't too cool under the lights on the set. In fact, I'm positive:

So, a mystery solved. And what with it being about 38 degrees outside and raining right now, what would I give to be standing poolside in Aruba right now? Oh well, guess I'll just have to wait another five months for this year's UltimateBet Aruba Classic.
