Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Phil Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth didn't take his seat today until two hours after play started. That isn't unusual, he's always late. What was UNusual was the manner in which he made his way to the tables. Which was crazy, even for Phil.

Of course you read about the little accident Phil had yesterday. He was supposed to drive up to the Rio in that race car and make a big splash for the cameras. The car is out of commission, but that didn't put a crimp in Phil's style.

He arrived in a limosine and emerged wearing his full racing suit (helmet included). Waiting for him were eleven beautiful women (one for each bracelet, of course) who then escorted Hellmuth down the long, long, LONG corridor toward the Amazon Room. If you can imagine a crowded hallway filled with spectators and tourists and gawkers...and then Phil Hellmuth strides by wearing a black-and-gold racing suit, with eleven lovely ladies wearing black leotards in tow, and ESPN cameras filming the whole thing...the word "bedlam" comes to mind.

Phil was seated at the Bluff Magazine Feature table, where a crowd quickly gathered:

I overheard Phil tell someone at his table that the accident happened because the steering locked up just before the crash. It was probably a good thing he was wearing a helmet, and a good thing too that Phil decided that, accident or no, he was gonna wear his racing outfit. Which is just fab:

The ladies left his side and walked out of the Amazon Room, which of course bitterly disappointed me. But I did manage this quick pic

I'll try to get updates on the other eight ladies as well. And, uh, maybe find out if Phil is still in the tournament.
