If You Can't Beat 'Em...Cheat

Ever lose a hand and wonder how on God's green earth the other guy called? You run your first bluff in 3 years and get called down by fourth pair, no kicker. Do you have some horrible tell, did your eye start twitching, did the sweat cascade down your brow?

Well, probably. But if you lost a few sick hands that way in a London casino the last few months there might be another reason. Two men and a woman were arrested and accused of using minature cameras, earpieces, and other high-tech gizmos to cheat their way to over $500,000 in poker winnings.

The scam worked like this--a poker player sitting across from the dealer had a camera up his sleeve and recorded what cards the dealer was passing out. This was beamed to an accomplice sitting in a van outside the casino, who would watch the deal in slow-motion and relay the info back to the players at the table.

Pretty clever. Suspicions were aroused by the success of one of the cheats and because the same white van kept showing up outside the casino. I just love that part, and the idea that someone might've seen that van across the street AGAIN and said, "I don't want to sound paranoid, but I've seen that van parked in the same spot before, and do you see that antenna sticking up from roof...
