During last year's Aruba Poker Classic Brian Gabrielle won the Pro For A Year tournament held before the Main Event. The World Poker Open in Tunica is Brian's first event as a Team UltimateBet pro, and he's proving to everyone that he's got the game to compete with the best in the world.

Day 3 in Tunica has just come to an end and Brian is currently fifth out of 18 players remaining with $323,000. Jim Bullard is the chip leader with $966,000, and big names like Daniel Negreanu, J.C. Tran, Amir Vahedi and Kido Pham are also still in the hunt.

Reading over the coverage at Bluff Magazine and Card Player Brian won a big hand early when he pushed all-in on a board reading Js-5c-3c-7s-10s and got his opponent to lay his hand down. Later in the evening Brian picked up over $50K when he knocked out Victor Ramdin. After an 8s-7d-3s flop Brian called Ramdin's all-in with 10d-9h and an open-end straight-draw. Ramdin held Js-10s and a flush draw to go with his high card, but a jack came on the river to give Brian the straight and the pot.

Play resumes tomorrow at 12noon ET, and we'll be following Brian's progress toward the final table (which of course would be broadcast on the World Poker Tour). In case you were in Aruba and didn't remember meeting Brian, chances are you saw him dancing by the pool after he won the Pro For A Year tournament. Remember this face, because you might be seeing him on the Travel Channel very soon.
