Poker-Therapy-Sessions

If I can't get a bad beat jackpot, maybe I can get a $215 tourney entry :)

It had already been the worst poker day of my life, so maybe I should not have been surprised. I was playing a 5/10 cash game, right here at UB, and looked down to find pocket Johnnys (JJ). A turn in my favor perhaps? I raised and quickly found more action than I wanted. Two re-raises and a call.

Later four of us saw the flop. I was a little worried stumble into all this pre-flop interest, but felt better when a jack fell on the flop. There was a king and a ten, as well as two spades, so I wasn’t celebrating just yet, but hey; I had a set.
Flop action was heavy and I was feeling even less secure with my set when a low spade fell on the turn.
More betting told me that my day wasn’t looking any better after all, but I am not a good enough player to lay down hands when I know they are beat, so I went to the river hoping that board would pair and not land me in the showdown with a bigger full house.

The River….and Eureka! A fourth jack! The jack of spades set me up with quads! The betting goes to the max again with my help as I expect that I’m up against a stubborn flush and an overconfident full house. I have quads!

All I could do was laugh when queen-nine of spades was flipped up.
My fourth jack had turned his flush into a straight flush. A $259 pot slid away from me and my day didn’t improve after all. Hands come and go, and beats fall like rain on all of our poker days, but some hands are not destined to leave our minds for a long time. Perhaps there is a market for poker therapy sessions. Sign me up.

UB, I love ya, but you really need a bad beat jackpot.
