With many poker players mostly playing no-limit hold'em many are becoming very good at the game. The true expected value of playing a no-limit tourney is getting less and less and harder to win because there are many good no-limit players in any given tournament. A one game specialist will have a hard time when mixed games are added. Here the best overall player is more likely to win in the long run. Chip Reese winning the 2006 WSOP $50,000 buyin and Freddy Deeb winning it in the 2007 WSOP, shows that they are some of the best well-rounded poker players in the world.
HORSE is always played in a limit format. The good side of that is when you take a monster bad beat it is often not for your tournament life. This form of poker is a true grind and often frustrating as it is very hard to protect your hand, but in time when you keep putting your money in with the best of it, you should fair very well.
Most of the players who play HORSE are very good at one or two of the games and are pretty weak at the other, It's your job to find out what players are weak at certain games, You can only do this by gaining tons of knowledge about all the games. Study all the books on these certain games written by successful professional poker players, not just authors who write books. Get ahold of all the videos also by successful professionals. These are great teaching tools. Also, ask your friends who are really good at a certain game and the keys to success for that specific game.
It will take a long time to really play all five of these games well, so be prepared to be patient and just try and learn something new everyday. Make that your job and if you still have the inner-passion to keep making your poker game better you can be a really solid HORSE player and really increase your bankroll with maybe a little less risk than playing games such as no-limit holdem.
