Playing Rebuy Tournaments

God i love rebuy poker tournaments.  For that one hour, you get to play a whole new game of poker.  You will see 15k pots at 10-20 blind levels.  Players will call for a 3 outer for 5k with only 100 invested.  You will see things youd never see in a regular Freezeout.  With this in mind, it requires a whole new mentallity.

I will never sign up for a rebuy, unless im able to rebuy at least 6 times if needed.  You are really cheating yourself by entering a rebuy, and quitting before the end of the first hour.  When you quit before the first hour, you are just giving everyone in the tournament better value and making there chips cost less for them.  So why not be one of those players getting the better value?   If you are not prepared to rebuy, you are probably going to pass up the chance to win enormous pots.  If there is 6 people all in, and i have 44 during the rebuy period, i might just call.  If i hit a 4, im going to increase my stack by 6x.

One thing that can be said about not rebuying is you get such a great value, only as long as you make it past the rebuy period.  Just imagine playing a 100r and winning it without a rebuy.  You would win around 35k in only a 200 person field for $100.  That would be pretty impressive and im sure its been done multiple times.  I just believe that you give yourself a much better chance to win, when you allow yourself to gamble, for massive pots, when you are getting massive odds.

When deciding to play rebuys, just know your bankroll.  There are rebuys for all levels.  Ive seen rebuys from .10 to $1000.  If you are a lower limit player, i really suggest playing the $1-$10 rebuy tournaments.  They're a great chance at a big score for a little risk.  Not only that, they are the most fun you can have at a poker table.  Except when playing Shawn Rice in chinese:)
