WSOP Shootout

Yesterday was the $1500 WSOP shootout event. This was an event I was really looking forward to. For those who don't know, a shootout is where you start at a 10 handed table and play down to 1 winner. Only one person advances and then you start at a new table and do it again. Those people who win their first table are in the money. It is basically a sit n go, and I have played countless sit n gos over the years.
I was the 7th person to arrive at my table, and I didn't recognize the other 6. After the first hand was dealt the other 3 seats filled in with 3 very good players I recognized. Shawn Keller, Jordan Rich and some guy named Phil Ivey. Two guys I'd rather not have at my shootout table are Phil and Jordan, whom are both very dangerous players.
I'm guessing Phil had the mentality that he was going to get chips early or bust, as he played just about every hand and was busted in 10th place maybe 30 minutes in.
As for me I could never really get anything going and found myself short stacked after a few hours. I finally was able to get it in 3 ways with JJ vs. 55 and AQ and have my hand hold to get me back to 4k chips. After another hour I was down to 2200 chips with the blinds at 150/300 with a 25 ante. We were playing 5 handed and decided to try to pick up some blinds and antes. As usual my timing was perfect when I pushed in from the button with 58 of hearts right into the 99 of Shawn Keller.
That was just the first of hopefully many series event I play this year. In a few hours im back on my horse to play today's $1500 pot limit Omaha. Hopefully today is the day.
