Some home time

I've been lucky enough to have a long stretch at home before I gear up for a busy upcoming travel schedule.  I've been home for about 6 weeks and it has been great. I love spending time with family and friends.

Last Friday I got to go snowmobiling for the first time. My good friends Kurt and Jason took me up in the Cascade Mountains, near Mount Bachelor.  We rode for 7 hours or so, and logged close to 50 miles. What a blast this was. As the day progressed they decided I was ready to climb Tumalo peak, directly across from Mount Bachelor. Other than getting stuck once, I did pretty well.  Once at the top it was awesome, 9k feet elevation, overlooking all of central Oregon was awesome.

During my time at home I've been playing a lot of online poker. I have been on a pretty good run, winning a few tournaments along the way and having some nice cashes.

Despite this there has been a strange reoccurring theme for me…pocket kings. Until recently I have considered QQ to be my nemesis hand. Not anymore. Pocket kings are the new pain in my ass. Over the past weeks I have gone broke with them more than I can count. No matter how I play them I rarely seem to win with them. One day last week I counted losing 6 of 7 times with them, none to AA either. As I was typing this blog, I got them twice, losing both times, to AQ, and A8.  at this point its become kind of funny. I expect to lose with them. I sure hope it turns around soon!

Friday I'm off to Reno for our annual super bowl weekend. This will be year 14 of our group of friends meeting from all over the states to hang out together for a weekend. I'm sure this year will be fun as usual. We are going to see Foo Fighters the first night we are there. I am excited about going; they are one of my favorite bands.

Hopefully we won't get snowed in. It snowed almost a foot yesterday, and we are expecting more.
