Rock and Roll weekend

In the spring of 1990 I was a senior in high school in Bend ,Oregon. My good friend Kurt and I drove a few hours away to Salem Oregon to see two of our favorite bands play, Anthrax and Iron Maiden. Eighteen years later we got to do it again. This weekend a group of us which included me, my wife Erin, Kurt, Shawn Rice and the great Victor "the beeg" Bigio. We met up in Los Angeles to have some rock and roll fun. On Friday night we all went to the amphitheatre in Irvine California to join 15,000 other fans and watch the 2 groups blow us away. I have had the fortune of going to see a lot of rock shows over the years as it is one of my favorite past times, but this was one of the greats. Both bands absolutely killed it. As a big fan of both bands I would rank this at the top of my list for best shows I have seen of all time.

Anthrax weekendBig thanks to Scott Ian who hooked us up with killer seats as well as backstage passes. What a blast!.

We didn't have long to recover from this one as the next morning we jumped into a rental car and drove to Las Vegas to go see Sully Erna play an acoustical show at the Joint at the Hard Rock. This was quite a different show from the night before but equally as entertaining. We had an added guest with us on this night. Absolute poker pro Liv Boeree met up with us and joined in. This was my first time meeting Liv, and let me tell you this girl is a blast. The night ended with the beeg singing the humpty dance at karaoke.  My side still hurts from laughing during his performance, he is one funny man. Thanks to Sully and his manager Jeff for hooking us up with passes as well.

I'm home now but not for long. I head back to Vegas in 3 days to get to work at the World Series of Poker. I have a great feeling about this year. I have been really distracted with the building of my house lately and it will be nice to get down to Vegas and fully concentrate on nothing but poker for several weeks. I expect good things while I am down there.

Hope to see you all there.
