Just got home from a long week in Reno, like always Reno rocks. I played the 2k buy-in event on Saturday. I never had a big chip stack until late in the day when Chad Brown reraised me with kings, and I woke up with aces. It's really strange for me to play that long(about 10 hours) without really playing many hands. But after that hand I had around 60k in chips and the blinds were 1k-2k with a 200 ante. There were around 25 players left, and it paid the top 9. Around 30 min later I had been raising a lot and I guess the lady to my left got sick of it and shoved on me with AQ--bad timing for her! I had aces, and now the chip lead with 19 left. Normally I would really like to play a lot of hands as we get close to the money. But I got moved to a table with a maniac that was playing EVERYHAND, and I didn't get my chips in much before we got to the final table. So I started the FT Sunday at noon in 3rd place with 120k, the chip leader had around 150. This was like a dream FT-- no really good players, except for "mattg1983". My wife, Christy, and "Momma ho" were there along with 60 UB qualifiers to support me. It was a blast! Matt, the chipleader, and I took turns running the table over. After about 6 hours we were down to the 3 of us . I got caught a few times and got short and had to battle back . The chip leader was raising a lot and Matt reraised. I looked down at 5-8 of diamonds and thought Matt was sick of the bully, too, so I shoved. The bully insta called and Matt folded. I was a little embarrassed to flip over my 5-8 after the bully showed his aces. The flop came 6d, 5c, and 10d. The crowd went 'nutz" when the turn came--the Qd. It was a sick beat for the situation. After that we talked about chopping the $. I love to talk deals 'cuz you normally can get a lot of information during the talks. But I got offered such a good deal I had to take it. The chip leader and I took 39k, Matt got 33k, and we played for the $7800 main event seat. Matt ended up winning the seat (I was really happy for him as he is a classy guy and a great player...congrats Matt). After that we had the UB party! WOW! Talk about a good day. UB really knows how to throw a party.
The main event was a little different. I played for "almost" 15 min. when I flopped a set of jacks on a 2-3-j board. GG P0ker H0! I can't bet enough for a donkey to fold 4-5.
Up next for me, debo, and Shawn is the WSOP Academy at Caesars Palace, April 18th and 19th, where we get to teach poker along side some of the greatest players in the world. Then on the 20th I get to play in the 25k WPT Championship at the Bellagio. This will be my first time playing in this 25k event. I'm really fired up for it. Then on the 26th and 27th, we're off to Calgary and Vancouver to wrap up the UB Cross Canada Tour with Phil and Annie. Talk about a great two weeks ahead! I'm so lucky to be living the dream .......GL H0
