Poker and Football, I love it!

After getting back from Aruba, it was time to get back into the swing of online poker again. I had only played 2 online tournaments in a 15 day period and I was ready to go. My week started off good with a win in the Wednesday night UPC 500+40 for $11k which was a nice welcome back.
The win made me feel a lot better about leaving for a weekend away with my good friends Kurt and Jason.

We were off to beautiful Eugene Oregon for some fun and football.

Friday night in Eugene, we met up with longtime UB player and friend neddyflanders downtown for a poker tournament.  This was my first time to this card room is Eugene, but I was very impressed.

I was on the rail early in this one, when my top two pair didn't hold up against an open ender. Normally this wouldn't have bothered me, but I had a side bet with the boys. First one out had to sleep on the rollaway in the hotel. UGH! My back still hurts. We had to stick around to watch Kurt play down to the final 3 before getting knocked out.  In the meantime Neddy and I donked around in a pot limit Omaha cash game and had some fun. Thanks for the invite Neddy.

Saturday morning it was time for tailgating and getting ready for the game. I got to meet up with some old WSU roommates and catch up on life. It was good to see all the old friends. Former WSU standout and longtime NFL QB Drew Bledsoe stopped by for a few minutes to throw the pigskin and talk about snowmobiling this winter. Drew lives in the same town as me, and his brother Adam is Jason's neighbor.

My beloved WSU Cougars were coming into town as 20 point underdogs. They played like a high school team and got beat 57-7. This one was over early and we hit the road back to Bend midway through the 4th quarter.

Sunday's UB $200k was pretty uneventful for me. I lasted a couple hours before running AK into KK and gg me. It was good to see one of the bounties, team UB member Shawn Rice, navigate through for an 11th place finish. Having a bounty on you makes this tournament so tough in the early stages. It's tough to win a pot when 6 people are in every pot with you. I think I may have to change my approach to this one in the future.
