Saturday night in Vegas I got to get away from poker for an amazing night on the town. Scott Ian invited me to go out with him and Pearl to the Ted Nugent concert at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay. I brought a friend with me, Pat Poels who is on of my roommates for the WSOP. We met up at Mandalay with Shawn Rice, Scott, Pearl and a friend of Scott's named Michael. I really wasn't expecting the show to be anything special. I have always liked Nugent but never considered myself a big fan. After the show was over I now consider myself a fan. The show was amazing. Ted is nearly 60 years old but rocked the house of blues big time. When the show ended Scott took us backstage to meet Ted, his band and family. Ted is one of the coolest guys I've met, and equally as funny. While we were backstage Chris Angel walked in and we got to meet him as well.
After we left the house of blues we went to a club called the Forty Deuce. We have been to before. This club is one of my favorites. We were there no longer than 30 minutes when Michael got a phone call and asked us if we wanted to head over to Pure at Caesars Palace and meet Mike Tyson. Uh, of course we want to meet him we said, and off we went. We showed up to see a line of probably 200 people outside of Pure, but no worries apparently Michael knows his way around Vegas. Three guys in suits approached and took us all back to a VIP room where they proceeded to remove everyone in the room and give it to Michael, I was impressed. After maybe 20 minutes in walked the former champ. He was not what I expected. He was very gentle and quiet. He shook hands and took pictures, but never really said much. We stayed until the wee hours of the morning and had a great time.
