Golfing with the Champ

UB recently auctioned off a round of golf with "the 11 time WSOP champ" and "the great P0ker H0", at the Pasatiempo golf course in Northern California.

Normally flying from Madison Wi. To Cal. For a one day event isn't my idea of a lot of fun especially after the last few months of flying all over the US and Canada, but how many times do you get a chance to golf at one of the top 10 courses in the world and do it with Phil and a couple of UB guys "senior jota" and "mad00house". Jon was the auction winner and his buddie Scott were two really cool guys.

Phil and I showed around 10am and met the guys for our 10:50 tee time before we even got our golf shoes on Phil was already talking bets. I am not sure what they thought originally , but they were ready for us. After 10 minutes of negotiating we got all the bets figured out. and we teed off. Well they did, Phil and started out pretty bad losing the first 5 holes. We were down a ton money already and the day had just started on the 6th hole things started to change as "they always do for Phil". We had about a 15 foot putt with A LOT of break. Phil says "H0 its time for the one handed putt". Before he hit the ball Jon offers Phil 3 to 1 odds he misses Phil says make it 4 to1 and you have a bet. Jon says ok for 300. "I should have warned Jon but I didn't have the heart. Phil can putt REALLY well one handed, believe me I have lost a lot of money to him over the years. Well Phil makes the putt and the day turns for us we win 9 out of the next 12 holes. It was a great day, the course was unreal, weather was great, and Jon and Scott could not have been any more fun to hang out with.

After the round we went to the club house for beer and cards. My two favorite things in life. We played euchre, it's a Midwest game that we play a lot in Wi. As we played there was a lot of smack talk going on about golf . Phil turns to us and says hey its only 7pm lets get back out there for some speed golf "1k a hole " we got in 8 holes in 45 min , After winning a undisclosed amount of money .We jumped into the limo Phil had waiting for us and went out for Dinner and A LOT more cards and beer. 3am came quick and one of the best days I can remember was over.





I hope to see the guys again at the WSOP. Maybe we can have a rematch there or in Aruba.
